Margaret Karns Weiland


Margaret Karns and Nicholas Weiland, an Appleton pioneer, were married February 9, 1869 in Milwaukee county. In 1877 they had the home at 925 Sixth (now 403 W. Sixth St.) built at the southwest corner of Sixth and Elm.

Margaret Weiland died December 30, 1915:

"Mrs. Margaret Weiland, wife of N. Weiland of Appleton, died on Thursday following a short illness from pneumonia, which was caused by an attack of the grip. Deceased was well known in this city, where she had visited on numerous occasions and where she had many friends who will be truly sorry to hear of her death. The surviving children are Mrs. N. Reiland, Mrs. J. B. Arpin and H. B. Weiland of this city, Mrs. J. S. Wolf, Mrs. Charles Baldwin and Miss Cecile Weiland of Appleton and Frank Weiland of Thief River Falls, Minn. The funeral was held on Monday and Mrs. Reiland and Henry Weiland and J. B. Arpin went down from this city to attend the last sad rites, Mrs. J. B. Arpin, being unable to go on account of being confined to her bed with an attack of grip."
