Local architect Edward A. Wettengel designed the "sisters' house" for St. Joseph parish in 1924. He also designed what is now known as the Trettin House at 523 Eighth St. Another Wettengel-designed homes in the Old Third Ward is the American Foursquare at 419 S. Walnut St.
