523 W. Eighth St.
Street number prior to 1925: 981 Eighth

Edgar and Ancilla Walter had architect Ed Wettengel, Sr. design and Martin Boldt & son build this 1918 eclectic Prairie style home just west of Ancilla's (Rossmeissl) parents, Matthias and Barbara, who lived at 517-519 W. Eighth.

The Walters still lived here in 1925 but sold the home to August Trettin, owner of Brettschneider Furniture and Funeral Home, in 1926.

Now known as the Trettin House, it was designated a local historic structure in 2005.
