An orchard stood between this house and the Weiland home at 403 W. Sixth St. which was built the same year, 1877. This house was built for August Lohman and his wife Kate. Kate was the sister of Matthias Schmidt who built a home at 412-416 S. State St.
In the 1930's the home was occupied by Herman Schommer, a descendant of pioneer Nicholas Schommer.
