In 1877 August Lohman built a home at 417 W. Sixth St. An orchard stood between this house and the Nicholas Weiland house on the corner of Sixth and Elm, 403 W. Sixth St., which was built the same year.

August's wife Kate Schmidt was the sister of Matthias Schmidt who built a home at 412-416 S. State St.
