Hotel proprietor Michael Alberty and his wife Anna built the Queen Anne style home at 401-403 S. Walnut St. in 1890. Alberty served as President of the George Walter Brewing Company and was also a partner with Joseph Stier in a coke and coal business.

The May 17, 1928 Appleton Post Crescent ran an article about the 52nd wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schuetter. It mentioned the guests at the celebration who had also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversaries. Among them was Mr. and Mrs. Michael Alberty.
