516 S. State St.
Street number prior to 1925: 973 Sixth

Mrs. Johanna Hoch was the first owner of this 1920 Bungalow. In 1930 Josephine Gattner was a boarder. This house used to be at 515 W. Sixth St. (973 Sixth when it was built) but was moved to this location in the 1970's. The spot where this home stood is now an Outagamie County parking lot. This home is the only survivor of county parking lot expansion.

A few weeks after the Outagamie County Special Building Committee approved the purchase of 6 lots on Walnut, Sixth amd Fifth for county parking, an article in the September 25, 1970 Appleton Post-Crescent reported that same Committee approved the purchase of this home. This purchase would give the county all of the property fronting on Walnut between Fifth and Sixth streets.

This ad appeared in the August 26, 1971 Appleton Post Crescent. On October 8, 1971 a was photo published in the paper with the accompanying text:

"Most houses purchased recently by Outagamie County for couthouse area parking space have been razed. This one, at 515 W. Sixth St., was sold to the highest bidder, a Menasha man,and was moved to a new location on State Street. One of the problems workmen encountered during the move came, below, when a tree got in the way of the big two-story structure."
