In 1909 George C. Jones gave land in a deep ravine to the city to be used as a public park. This was one of many ravines that cut through the city. The north end of this ravine ran under W. Lawrence St. until the 1920's.

Jones Park is a neighborhood park located at 301 W. Lawrence Street near downtown Appleton. Jones Park has recreational opportunities for every season. On this 5.8 acre park you will find the following facilities:
- Lighted Basketball Court
- Playground Equipment (ADA accessible)
- Hockey Rink (Warming Shelter)
- Ice Skating Rink
- Lighted Walkway through the Park
- Picnic Pavilion (capacity-48)
- Restrooms
- Drinking Water
- Off Street Parking (under Oneida Skyline Bridge)
- Access to Lawrence Street
