Hometown Pride Award

In 1997 only a few years after the Old Third Ward Neighborhood Association was incorporated, the organization submitted an application for Midwest Living® Magazine's Hometown Pride Awards Program. The proposal outlined a concise history of the Association.

The Association won an award in the "Historic Preservation" category in 1998. According to the press release announcing the award, the Hometown Pride Awards program "was designed to recognize Midwesterners who, through their volunteer efforts, make the Heartland a better place to live."

The Association received a $1,000 cash award and a block party was given for the entire city on Thursday, August 27, 1998.
