John Tolland was born March 2, 1821 Dontocher, Dumbarton Scotland and came to Appleton in 1885. He lived in the home at 620 W. Fourth St. from 1892 through at least 1910 when he was a widower living with his daughter and her family.
The Appleton Post-Crescent featured an article on February 14, 1906 about the Tolland's 60th wedding anniversary.
