The Ashman family, Henry H. and George G., carpenters and contractors; and Ida, a clerk, occupied the home at 212 S. Memorial Dr. (which was then 544 Cherry) from 1889 to 1898. Henry died sometime between 1894 and 1896 when Mrs. Susan Ashman is listed in the city directories along with children Ida and George.
Henry Ashman was the son of Appleton pioneer John Ashman.
